Route 77

A bit of rock and roll inspiration never goes astray, especially when it comes from the King.

This Chip Chop dress is a direct reference to the idol of my grandparents youth and is definitely infused with some of that rock attitude. Shaped as an oversized tank dress, I tied it on the side and decided to team it with my favourite worn-out Jeffrey Campbell boots and my floppy hat, to channel some easy going summer vibes. It's the kinda dress that is equally perfect for a day at the beach and a chill sesh with friends.

On another note, this shoot also inspired me to bring back out my guitar. It's been a few months, but when your fingers touch the strings, you instantly remember why you love playing. I originally taught myself before eventually getting lessons, and I used to play often, but it's one thing I've let fall by the wayside of late. Practising requires time (ugh how I wish there were more hours in a day) and a certain level of concentration, but it doubles as a really great way to relax and chill. Plus, finally getting a tough sequence of chords is incredibly rewarding - I definitely need to get back into regular practise!

Pineapple Love

Summer isn't summer without some fruit adorned printed shorts. These little pineapple shorts are my faves this season, due mostly to their refreshed take on the typical print. Teaming them with this Zara black mesh tank makes for the perfect outfit for escaping the heat. They are on sale now at Chip Chop, so head over there to grab a bargain!

These photos were taken on a typical Saturday for me - coffee in hand, traipsing around the inner city. Gnome Expresso was the source of this large skinny flat white (my caffeine of choice) and I was also lucky enough to pick up these shiny flatforms half price at a little boutique on Crown St. I love how they add a little something extra to my outfit,  plus their height is super comfy.

Happy Australia Day Weekend!

Freedom

If you follow me on insta you'll probably know, thanks to my abundance of celebratory posts, that my honours thesis is officially submitted (yay!). One of the best lessons I learnt over the year was about time management. There were lots of things I just didn't want to miss out on over the year, so I became obsessed with not wasting time. That meant getting stuff done at any little window of spare time, such as bus rides, work lunch breaks and early mornings (it's amazing how productive you can be between the hour of 6:30am-7:30am).

Anyway, now that I finally have some time to breathe, I've realised that what I'm enjoying the most is an absence of guilt. I no longer have this thing constantly occupying some nether region of my brain at all times, and so I thoroughly enjoyed my first free weekend since Europe in July.

These pics are some of my favourite from Sunday; a late leisurely lunch of the vegan breakfast plate and the largest mugs of (extra hot) coffees at kawa Surry Hills with some of my favourite people, followed by a spot of grocery shopping at the new About Life across the road.

I am wearing a new skirt that resulted from a bout of procrasti-shopping a few weeks ago from Misguided Fashion. I'm in love with the pastel pink colour, so I kept it the focus of the skirt by paring it with a staple black H&M tank and my fave Cheap Monday denim jacket.

This weekend reaffirmed my excitement for summer holidays, to be filled with endless cafe dates, plenty of exploring and beach days.

Good luck to all those finishing off final exams and assessments!

Melbourne Photo Diary Part 2

Melbourne day two kicked off with an early morning swim, followed by brunch at That Place. We began planning our day over eggs benedict and the best smoothies ever, which was helped along by the lovely waitress who sat down, drew us some paper bag and gave us a locals guide to the best spots to visit over the next two days!

After following her advice we hopped on a tram to Chapel St for a shopping filled day. Many bags later we finally stopped to refuel with froyo at Tasti-D Lite- it was so good we couldn't resist going back for seconds of the brownie batter concoction!

A bit of shopping later and we lugged our many bags to the packed mexican restaurant/bar Fonda Windsor, which had a great atmosphere and delicious burritos and cocktails.
We then finally made it back to the hotel room, before heading back out to explore the Melbourne nightlife.

Sunday Morning, we decided on brunch at the little laneway bagel cafe Manchester Press, before another day of shopping at Brunswick St. A couple of coffees later we headed back to the city to enjoy cute cocktails at the rooftop bar Madame Brussells, then packed in a quick Chinese dinner at The Crown Metropole before catching our plane home.

Thanks for the wonderful weekend Melbourne- we will be back very soon!

Melbourne Photo Diary Part One

Shopping, cafes and city lights makes Melbourne the perfect destination for a girls weekend. Catching a flight in early Friday morning (as in before sunrise...) and arriving back in Sydney late Sunday night, we certainly made the most of our weekend!
We stayed at the beautiful Crown Metropole, which had a great central location, city views and the most amazing rooftop infinity pool.

The first morning kicked off with a perfect breakfast at Cummulus Inc, before an afternoon getting lost in the city streets, shopping our way through Flinders Lane and Bourke Street. My personal highlight was a visit to Green with Envy, where I picked up an Acne tee and Secret South asymmetrical skirt.

After heading back to our hotel room to admire our new purchases, we caught the tram to the beachside suburb of St Kilda. Tapas and wine was a perfect way to end the evening, before seeing the ever-talented Dean Geyer, who played a one-off gig at the Prince Bandroom.

A perfect first day in Melbourne!
Look out for Part 2 of my photo diary coming soon
