Sunday Round Up

1. Tried the new Adriano Zumbo Tim Tams. The brownie flavour is nice, but much like the infamous macaroons, the salted caramel flavour is simply AMAZING. Try it.

2. The new Victoria Secret's store opened in Sydney's QVB building. It is smallish, especially compared to the 5 level New York City store opposite the the Empire State Building (which I literally spent two whole hours in when I was in NYC- no joke). But, WE FINALLY HAVE A VS STORE IN SYDNEY THATS NOT THE AIRPORT! I purchased a pair of cute undies and a lip plumper lip gloss (because, i just had to make a purchase, obviously).

3. How amazing is the floral adornment on the latest issue of Yen? It's a lovely issue and totally worth handing over a $10 note for.

4. Really enjoyed the new movie, Vampire Academy. Not nearly as good as the Richelle Mead novels, and the love interest was no way hot enough, but a entertaining film nonetheless.

5. Zara has re-opened their city store and their new season collection is amaze- I am coveting one of the pastel winter coats, but our lack of freezing weather makes it, sadly, a bit hard to justify.

Hope everyone has a lovely week!

White Out

I have been lusting over these New Balances since last year, so I finally decided to just buy them  already! I am, of course, very pleased with this purchase and have been wearing them as much as I possibly can ever since they arrived in the mail. I took this pics after a quick coffee break earlier this week- our erratic Sydney weather has meant that long sleeves and plaid shirts have become my uniform of choice.

In other news, being me, I accidentally ordered the wrong size in my New Balances the first time around (the perils of buying shoes on the internet!). So I currently have a brand new in box size UK 8/US 8.5 pair like the one above, sitting in my room. If anyone is interested in buying them off me, send me an email at ellese2@hotmail.com.

Hope everyone is making the most of the early autumn sunshine!

My Favourite Things

This week's round up of my favourite things consists of some sneaky purchases, magazines and of course coffee.

1. My new plaid shirt! I love plaid, but am incredibly picky- it has to be just the right mesh of colours, and the perfect fabric. This new one fits all my necessary criteria. I have tried in vain to not wear it every day since it made its way into my wardrobe, but neglected to  succeed in this endeavour- thankfully it is extremely versatile, so no need to shout "OUTFIT REPEATER" (in the words of Lizzie McGuire). Tied around the waist or actually on as a shirt (as in, how it's supposed to be worn)- omg, it's just perfect in every way.

2. Another purchase... yes I am officially on the Birkenstock bandwagon. Just call me an trend follower already. I justified this purchase by again looking at it's versatility... as in, the shoes are both comfy and fashion-y and, well I just wanted them okay?

3. The days are getting busier- working, plus my honours uni stuff starting before March (shock horror) means that my life is once again becoming a balancing act. So it's important to make time for a 15 minute mag sesh every so often. On another note, how pretty is the March Teen Vogue Cover staring Lea Michele? The editorial is amazing, set in LA fields with amazing soft lighting.

4. Country Road's new season collection. My favourite, is the CR Tote. It has the most perfect proportions that I have allocated it the important task of carrying Uni books this year. Plus I couldn't afford it's Acne older sister, so this purchase is sufficiently justified.

5. The Grounds Coffee popping up in places other than the Grounds. For days when I can't be bothered waiting in line at Alexandria, aka, every weekend. Try Pitt St Mall (opposite the news agency), and Balmoral Beach Kiosk.

#NYFW #LFW edit

There is something about cold weather that brings out a certain spark fashion-wise. Perusing through the street style images from New York and London Fashion week, I am suddenly craving the temperature to decline just a little so I can put some of this inspiration into action.

Since the more wearable fashions are derived from the street, my new season forecast consists of architectural shapes, most prominent through coats, fur and oversized scarves. Oh the coats- I need that mint green one, despite the fact that there are probably only 2 Sydney days a year when it would be cold enough to wear it...

Regardless, my own winter edit may need at least one coat purchase, to step up from my usual army jacket situation, updated for 2014 through massive scarves, preferably in tartan, and an abundance of faux fur.

Never mind the fact that I am skipping a month of Aussie winter for a European summer- it seems I will have slightly less time to create the perfect winter fashion edit (and decidedly more time to frolic on the sands of Mykonos...)

In the meantime, I will be more than happy for a few cool days here and there especially if there is hot tea, warm scarves and at least one of the above outfits involved.

Bat Girl

I can pretty confidently admit that I own way too many clothes. So much so that when I was looking for one of my little black singlets, I instead came across my Zoe Karssen Bat tee... that I had kinda forgotten that I owned.
The black top I was looking for forgotten, I decided to team it with my tartan headband, with my favourite black lace shorts and of course my trusty denim jacket, which works dually well as a 90s inspired outfit addition and as defence against Sydney's current bi-polar weather.

Plus, it goes well nicely with my accidentally dyed pink tips- thanks Colour Run- which has totally brought out my inner Avril Lavigne over the past week. Though I am writing this blog post whilst simultaneously watching MTVs Spotlight on Taylor Swift, so it seems my musical tastes vary even more than the weather.

Wildfox Fall 2014 Runway

Wildfox has always been one of my favourite brands. I discovered it years ago, back when it was Vanessa Hudgens (one of my style icons) brand of choice, and needless to say my love affair continues to this day. After all what collection can simultaneously produce a top that says 'I Need Coffee' and a artfully dishevelled jumper covered with stars? Only Wildfox SS13. Above is my pick of their Fall 2014 Runway Collection- full of slouchy, sleepover inspired pieces that make me excited for upcoming Autumn weather filled with good books, beanies, dark chocolate and endless cups of tea.

Happy Australia Day

Long weekends are literally one of the best things ever- it not only means an extra day of freedom, but I think it also encourages you to really enjoy the entire weekend, rather than let it fly by.

Saturday post-gym was spent at Centennial Park, feeding the ducks which is one of my favourite past times. I wore my new Stussy tee- their range at the moment is so me - lots of sports inspired, USA type stuff. It is such a fab throw on top that works well with lazy day shorts and cons.

Sunday aka Australia Day was overcast, so I didn't spend it at the beach as planned. Regardless the day was fun- on the way to a house party I stopped by Bourke St Bakery to pick up a lamington cake (amaze), plus a meat pie and flat white for myself. And of course, pavlolva was mandatory- those amazing slices of cream, meringue, sugary goodness are one of my favourite foods in the whole entire world.

Monday the sun finally came back out, so I picked up a bunch of bagels from Grandma Moses in Rose Bay (The only place that does bagels comparable to those at Dean & Deluca in New York), and then spent the whole day at the beach, interrupting tanning time only to grab an Acai Berry Jungel Juice and Coconut.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!
